Essex Crossing is starting to show some visible progress. Construction crews are working on four sites that make up the mixed residential and commercial project in the former Seward Park Urban Renewal Area. Here’s a fresh batch of photos from local resident Kami Scott.
This first shot shows site 6, located on the northeast corner of Broome and Clinton streets. Upon completion, the building here will include 100 apartments for low-income seniors, plus an NYU medical center. Ahead this week, the crews will be continuing to install steel supports and they’ll pour concrete for portions of the third floor slab.
On a neighboring parcel, site 5, crews are continuing foundation and superstructure work. They’re also doing plumbing and electrical work, and planning for a couple of big concrete pours this week. Over on site 1, on Ludlow street, fencing will be moved on Wednesday to accommodate construction. Flag men will be on hand to direct traffic. You can check construction updates here.
Essex Crossing includes 1,000 apartments, a new Essex Street Market, a 14-screen movie theater and other amenities. The first buildings are expected to open in 2018.
