In 2015, it sometimes felt like the Lower East Side was one big construction zone. Major development projects are dotting the neighborhood and will continue to transform sections of our community in the coming year. It’s been a busy December, so we haven’t had the chance to post recent photos submitted by readers and a few that we’ve shot ourselves. So before the year comes to and end, here are a few images from the dust bowl.

In the photo above from Tal Lev, you see Site 6 of Essex Crossing, where preliminary foundation began earlier this month. On this parcel, located at Attorney and Broome streets, a 14-story building with 99 apartments for low-income seniors, a medical facility and a cafe run by Grand Street Settlement are planned. Below: Site 1 at Ludlow and Broome streets, where 55 condominium apartments and a bowling complex are being built.

Next up is a  recent shot of Essex Crossing Site 2, at Delancey and Norfolk streets. 195 apartments, a new Essex Street Market and a 12-screen Regal movie theater are all part of the plan here.

Here was the scene in front of 100 Norfolk St. earlier this month, the wacky cantilivered condo building from ODA Architecture. The first photo is from Rineke Akkerhuis. We snapped a shot of the superstructure under construction, while an anomymous contributor sent along the image looking down on the work crew.

And finally, One Manhattan Square, the project alongside the Manhattan Bridge where Extell development is building their 80-story luxury condo tower/resort. Have you seen the interior renderings and the over-the-top amenities?
