Some of the things happening on the Lower East Side today:
–It’s the fallout from yesterday’s political earthquake: the conviction of Lower East Side Assemblyman Sheldon Silver on federal corruption charges. We’ll be watching for news from the governor’s office regarding a special election to fill Silver’s seat.
–Tonight at 6:30 p.m., Community Board 3 holds an Intercity Bus Town Hall to address problems with enforcement of a permit system set up a couple of years ago. Representatives from the NYPD, the Department of Transportation and other agencies will be on hand. P.S. 124, 40 Division St.
–At 8 p.m., John Jesurun’s Shadowland returns to the downstairs space at la MaMA. The cross-media storytelling event takes the form of an ever-evolving webserial. $30. Tickets here.
–OBIE Award-winner Juliana Francis Kelly’s newest play, “The Reenactors,” opens at Abrons Arts Center tonight. Here’s the set-up: “A hard-working actress gets cast in an Equity Showcase about the sole survivor of a teenage suicide pact in suburban New Jersey. She hooks up with the play’s affluent writer/director and soon discovers his play is based on a terrible true story.” $18. 7:30 p.m.
–The Communion Residency is back at Rockwood Music Hall tonight, beginning at 7 p.m. There’s a full lineup of new music on all three stages.
