Police have made an arrest following a sexual assault and two attempted assaults on the Lower East Side earlier this week.
20-year old Robert Bowie of the Bronx was taken into custody late last night. He has been charged with burglary, sex abuse, robbery, rape, criminal sex act and coercion.
Thursday morning, police believe, he tried to rape two women — one on James Street and the other on Broome Street. They fought the suspect off. He then went to the Baruch Houses, they say, forced his way into an apartment and sexually assaulted a 40 year-old woman. She was hospitalized and later released.
