That’s it for 400 Grand St., the old tenement on Essex Crossing site 5. As of this morning, there’s an empty space where the residential building once stood. Crews are now working to clear the rubble from the parcel at Grand and Clinton streets for a new 15-story mixed-use building that will include more than 200 apartments, a Planet Fitness health club. The site will also be home to a 15,000 sq. ft. park and, possibly, a new public school. The larger project on the former Seward Park urban renewal site will create 1000 apartments and 850,000 sq. ft. of commercial space.
