There’s a summer celebration at Pier 42 tomorrow, the makeshift recreational area just above Montgomery Street. There will be a fishing clinic offered by the Lower East Side Ecology Center, “family friendly” science workshops, a meet-and-greet with artists who have undertaken projects along the waterfront this year and “walking and talking” performances.
The event is sponsored by Paths to Pier 42, a group that has reactivated the pier in the past few summers. Next spring, the city will begin the initial phase of a $94 million transformation of the pier into an expansive recreational area.
The celebration takes place from noon-4 p.m. Click here for a complete schedule. It’s part of the annual City of Water Day.
