This one’s been a long time coming. The scaffolding has finally been removed from, 183 East Broadway, Â one of the Lower East Side’s slowest moving residential projects. This six story gem from Wai Sun Realty has been plagued by multiple stops and starts ever since the Department of Buildings shut down construction in 2009. The original building was in violation of zoning. There have been numerous safety issues, including an incident in 2011 in which a woman was injured by loose pieces of scaffolding. According to court records, a lawsuit related to that accident is scheduled to go to trial this coming fall. Signage un site predicts the project will be completed this month.
