We can’t say it too many times. Thank you to everyone who has helped support our Small Business Survival Campaign in the first week. We have now raised 55% of our $24,000 goal. With your help, we’re well on our way to launching a yearlong, solutions-focused reporting project here on the Lower east Side.
This morning, we’re pleased to announce that Zarin Fabrics, one of the neighborhood’s oldest businesses, has signed on as a Community Partner. Small business survival has been a longtime passion of David Zarin, president of the nearly 80-year-old family business. We were on hand in 2009 when he told members of a Senate committee that reducing mountains of red tape and increasing tax incentives would help small operators compete against big corporate stores. Zarin is 1st vice president of the LES Business Improvement District.
Whether you’re a local resident, a small business owner or anyone who feels passionate about keeping the “mom-and-pops” that make the Lower East Side special, we hope you’ll consider supporting our campaign. You can find out more about our plans here.
