
The small plates Italian restaurant, Sorella, closed it doors at 95 Allen St. last May. If all goes according to plan, the next tenant in the space just below Delancey Street will be Empanada Mama.
Paul H. Chen, a representative of the family trust that owns the building, tells us the lease should be signed by the end of the week. Renovations will begin immediately, with an opening planned in the spring.
Socrates Nanas previously opened Manhattan branches of the restaurant at 189 East Houston St. and 764 9th Ave. They’re known for big flavors and a huge global selection of empanadas in Cuban, Polish, Hawaiian, Greek and American varieties. The East Houston location will be closing down several months from now.
