You probably noticed that Modern Living Supplies, the furniture store, cleared out of the Garfield Building on Henry Street some time ago. This past Friday, a pop-up with some celebrity cache debuted in the space. Actress America Ferrera accompanied her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, at the opening of his “Monsters & Landscapes” exhibition. Williams explains on his website:
Through painting, video, and photography… (the) Monsters & Landscapes series explores the beautiful and destructive relationship between humans and nature. Curious about mankind and nature’s capacity to create and destroy, Williams created this series as an exploration of the duality in our natural world. Fueled by the desire to discover and understand his own monsters and landscapes his art serves to connect and reflect on the opposing forces that shape our world and our individual beings.
As you may know, Ferrera and Williams live around the corner in The Forward Building. The show is open 12-5 p.m. daily through Jan. 16. Complex has photos from Friday night’s VIP opening.
Modern Living Supplies moved to 200 Lexington Ave.
