City finance department records show the tenement at 83 Henry St. has changed hands for $7 million. The transaction was recorded last week. An entity known as “Abacus 83 LLC” with a mailing address at 79 Rivington St. is the new owner of the six story building located right beside the Manhattan Bridge.
The property has a checkered past. In the summer of 2012, a fire broke out inside at apartment at 83 Henry St. Two women were found dead, both from gun shot wounds to the head. A man was later arrested in connection with the murders as he attempted to board an airplane bound for Hong Kong.
There are 22 apartments in the building and a ground floor commercial space used by Da Yang Trading Company.
must be really small apartments for 22 apartment to be there. 4 per floor and where are the extra 2, cant figure that out.
One can only imagine how the unfortunate tenants will now be harassed by their new landlord.
2 ground level apts behind the stores… pretty typical tenement…
