Coming up this weekend, the Henry Street Settlement is throwing a block party for the neighborhood. The event doubles as a celebration for Henry Street founder Lillian Wald, who was born May 3, 1899. It will be held at 265 Henry St. Activities include: a birthday cake baking contest, tours of Henry Street’s historic headquarters, arts & crafts for the kids, free blood pressure screenings, and more. Interested in joining the cake baking contest? See below:
Amateur bakers are invited to enter our Birthday Cake contest. Contestants should bring their cakes to the party between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. Cakes will be judged on appearance, creativity, taste and interpretation of the “birthday” theme. Prizes will be awarded.
Did we mention that The Lo-Down will be helping to pick the winners?
