Next week is the anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, the 1911 tragedy that took the lives of 146 workers, many of whom lived on the Lower East Side. On Sunday, there will be a musical tribute at the Museum at Eldridge Street. There will be songs co-authored by Woody Guthrie and members of the Klezmatics, and original klezmer pieces written by Lisa Gutkin and Pete Rushefsky. The concert is dedicated to the Garment Workers of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, and to the Followers of the Trail, an organization of garment workers who fought to change working and living conditions across the country.
The concert, which begins at 2 p.m., costs $20 for adults. You can RSVP here.
