As you no doubt know by now, Russ & Daughters is opening a sit-down cafe a short distance from its longtime home on East Houston Street. The restaurant, located at 127 Orchard St., is nearing completion. You can tell they’re getting close because the legendary appetizing store is advertising for staff.
Here’s the blurb:
After 100 years and four generations of business on the Lower East Side, Russ & Daughters — the famed appetizing store that’s been described by Anthony Bourdain as one of his “favorite places in New York” — is opening its first restaurant. We are hiring for all front-of-house and back-of-house positions, and are seeking bright, articulate people who are fast, focused, and attentive to detail and presentation. Candidates should have an appreciation for the history and culture of the Lower East Side, a background and interest in food service, gourmet food, retail experience, salesmanship, strong communication skills, and a good work ethic. Please send your resume and include a brief statement about why you would like to be part of the Russ & Daughters family.
According to the listing, Russ & Daughters is seeking a line cook, sous chef, host, bartender, server and busser. The 65-seat restaurant is expected to debut sometime in the spring.
