Fourth Arts Block has announced an “open call” for a new public arts project debuting on the Lower East Side next spring.

FABLES will give four or five visual artists a chance to “explore the Lower East Side’s living cultural heritage, rich historical legacies and xurrent issues in public storytelling.”  The winning artists or artist teams will create murals at a few sites throughout the neighborhood. The project includes a stipend/production budget ranging up to $2500. The program, which is being spearheaded by FAB’s public art director, Keith Schweitzer, is funded, in part, by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The submission deadline is December 13. Click here for more info.
