Police precincts throughout the Lower East Side will be celebrating National Night Out this afternoon and evening. If you would like to take part in the community-building events, here’s the scoop on what’s happening when and where. The 7th Precinct is offering food, rides for the kids and a petting zoo on Pitt Street (between Rivington and Stanton) between 4-9 p.m.; and we understand City Council Christine Quinn, a mayoral candidate, will be stopping by to do some politicking. And the 5th Precinct’s National Night Out event will be held in Columbus Park from 4-8 p.m.
