Must Read

Earlier this year, the owners of Orchard Street gallery, Invisible Exports, said they were looking for a bigger space in the neighborhood. Now they’ve found it.

Risa Needleman and Benjamin Tischer told the Observer they’ve settled on a new location at 89 Eldridge St.  The new gallery will be more than double the size of the Orchard Street space, which they opened in 2008.  They’re hoping to make the move in September, although the larger, taller storefront needed lots of work – everything from heat to water – so it’s a major undertaking.

We interviewed Needleman for the cover story of our May print magazine.  At the time, she expressed confidence that the LES is not just a neighborhood for diminutive galleries — but also for growing enterprises requiring more than 500-800 square feet.
