Today’s Lower East Side food news:
- It won’t be long before the hotly anticipated “Ivan Ramen” opens at 25 Clinton St. You see the “coming soon” sign in the window. Yesterday, workers were hauling away the old furniture from previous tenant Ed’s Lobster Bar. If you want to know what to expect, there’s already a version of the menu online.
- Saxelby Cheesmongers in the Essex Street Market is celebrating National Grilled Cheese Month (there truly is a month for everything). They’ll be featuring a different grilled cheese creation every week this month and offering up (online) something called the “Ultimate Grilled Cheese Toolkit.”
- The Voice is impressed with the paella at Cata, the new Spanish spot on the Bowery.
- Noteworthy NYC Mexican chef Zarela Martinez presents a “one-woman show” at Casa Mezcal on Orchard Street next Tuesday. The show is described as “equal parts performance art, cooking lesson, inspirational memoir, and – when you least expect it – soulful serenade.” Click here for more info.
