  2. It is a very sad day for the neighborhood. I suspect that the market site has already been promised to some developer and that its fate was therefore preordained. But shame on CB3 for failing to even keep the provision that the building would not be demolished before the vendors were relocated, basically ensuring that the market will not survive. I hope they can live with themselves.

  3. Which will be moved into the new development with presumably better access and longer hours.  Why the RIP?

  4. How can you imagine the market will survive, given that there is no assurance that the vendors’ relocation expenses will be paid? Demolishing and developing the current home of the market is going to destroy it, especially since obviously the EDC and CB3 have no interest in preserving it. Just another Lower East Side institution lost to development…thanks, CB3!
