
Today’s Lower East Side food headlines:
- For many months, two food establishments at 124 Ludlow have appeared poised to open. There have been many delays. But now, according to the Times, one of those businesses is ready for its debut. Caffe Vita, a “Seattle staple” is ready to start serving customers on Monday. “The front of the shop is equipped with a la Marzocco GS2 espresso machine that dates to the late 1970s,” says the Times. No word yet on the opening date for Via Tribunali, a pizza restaurant from the same owners.
- Pete Wells drops by Pok Pok Wing on Rivington Street and anticipates new things to come in the outer boroughs from chef/owner Andy Ricker.
- Chef Sara Jenkins celebrates a night of Napoli cuisine at Porsena.
