This weekend, the storefront at 164 Ludlow St. hosted a tag sale offering silk lampshades, gauzy curtain panels, glass candleholders and a variety of holiday decorations. The goods offered an informal preview of the store’s incoming tenant, Castle & Pierpont, a high-end event design and production business whose current home is in SoHo.
Once the jumbled assortment of leftovers from weddings, parties and other special events is cleared out of storage, Castle & Pierpont plans to move its main headquarters to the new spot on Ludlow, between Houston and Stanton, with an opening scheduled for Dec. 1.
The business, which handles corporate and personal events and operates a full-service floral design studio and shop, began uptown in 1987 and moved to 29 Prince St. a couple of years ago, said Donna Castellano, who was arranging silk flowers in vases at the tag sale Sunday afternoon.
In addition to event design and production, its services include garden/terrace design and installation, corporate floral/plant design and installation, custom individual arrangements and gifts and home accessories. Its clients include Sotheby’s and the Metropolitan Opera. Its designs have been featured in Architectural Digest, Brides Magazine, Country Living and Cosmo; see photos on the company’s Facebook page.
