Matthew Penrose, one of the main organizers of the soccer league, Groupstage, sent along info about the organization’s growing youth program. If you’re interested in enrolling your kids, there will be a free open session this coming Tuesday, at 3:45 p.m., at Nike Field in Sara D. Roosevelt Park.
The Youth Program is open to children between the ages of 4 and 12. According to the group’s web site, “Classes are instructed in small groups – in a fun, progressive and non-competitive manner. Designed to improve your child’s soccer skills and overall enjoyment of the beautiful game.” Scholarships are available.
Matt tells us Groupstage had a great summer. They founded the Chinatown YMCA after school soccer program. And they have been working with Community Board 3 on improving community access to public playing fields on the Lower East Side (there’s a CB3 hearing on the issue October 25th.)
