Broadway Stars Come to Abrons Arts Center

Must Read

A high point of our week was a special night at the Abrons Art Center Monday — a spectacular concert featuring Broadway star Bebe Neuwirth and a few of her (very talented) friends. The event was a benefit for Equine Advocates and Henry Street Settlement.

Among the performers: Brenda Braxton, Jason Danieley and Brian d’Arcy James, who  treated the audience to some new songs, as well as Broadway standards; Tony Award winner Roger Rees; and dancers from the Dontee Kiehn Dance Company and Abraham in Motion.

The partnership between Henry Street and Equine Advocates brings kids from the Lower East Side (among other places) to Equine Advocates’ Sanctuary in upstate New York. Chairs of the benefit committee included Danny Glover, Joan Allen and James Earl Jones.

Susan Wagner, president and founder of Equine Advocates, and David Garza, executive director of Henry Street.
