On Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm, the Merchant’s House Museum is open for tours. The fourth floor servant’s room was recently opened, giving kids a chance to see how the domestic servants lived and did some of their work.
Built in 1832, the late-Federal and Greek Revival house is considered one of the finest surviving examples of the architecture of the period. Adults are $10; students and seniors $5; children under 12 are free. 29 East 4th Street, between Bowery and Lafayette.
