Chinese Lunar New Year festivities continue today.  At 5:30pm, the Hester Street Collaborative holds its 4th annual lantern installation ceremony in Sara D. Roosevelt Park. In this morning’s photo, you can see their last minute preparations during a lull in the rain showers this week. Today it will be 36 and sunny. The rain and snow return on Saturday, though. For Sunday’s Lunar New Year Parade it will be mostly sunny with a high of 36. In the news today, Lower East Side lawmakers unveil a plan to regulate those ubiquitous Chinatown tour buses. We’ll have details this afternoon.  Also we’ll have some suggestions for Valentine’s Day, if you’re thinking of staying in the neighborhood.
