Police Arrest Alleged Chinatown Bank Robber

From this morning’s New York Post Police Blotter:

An ex-con twice held up one Chinatown bank, sources said. Enrique Cova, 43 allegedly marched into the Bank of America branch on Bayard Street near the Bowery at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 and slipped the teller a note. “Give me 100 $100 bills or we will take hostages and move it,” the note threatened, sources said. Cova fled with an undisclosed sum of cash, but brazenly returned on New Year’s Eve at 1:30 p.m. and tried to rob the bank again but fled empty-handed, the sources added. Cova, who had gotten out of prison last January after serving seven years for robbery, was arrested last Thursday and charged with robbery and attempted robbery, said a spokeswoman for DA Cyrus Vance Jr.
