Installing "Skin Fruit" at the New Museum

A big event at the New Museum this week – the highly anticipated and controversial exhibition showcasing the collection of Greek billionaire Dakis Joannau (curated by Jeff Koons) makes its debut.

Coming up on Thursday, the public has a chance to weigh in on the proposed MTA service changes/cuts. And this afternoon, officials from the Department of City Planning will be meeting with the Chinatown Working Group, offering guidance on their “community-based improvement plan.”  Also this week, the City Council begins hearings on the mayor’s new budget. We’ll also get a better sense of how the next few months are going to play out in Albany,  in the aftermath of Governor Paterson’s big announcement (Sheldon Silver is, not surprisingly, making his thoughts on “the way forward” quite apparent).

It’s Monday, which means “My LES.” Today we hear from Dave Bolotsky, a longtime resident instrumental in the drive to refurbish Luther Gulick Park.

Look for a high of 42 today. It’ll be windy (15-20mph). Sunny this morning before the rain/snow returns this afternoon. It’s shaping up to be another wintery week (snow off and on at least through Wednesday).
