Gotham Gazette has the complete list of committee chairmanships announced by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn yesterday. As we reported from City Hall, Councilmember Margaret Chin will chair the Lower Manhattan Redevelopment Committee and serve on six other committees. Councilmember Rosie Mendez continues to chair the Public Housing Committee.
Ethics update: Senate Minority Leader Dean Skelos says: “To suggest, as the Senate Democrats’ spokesman has, that the Senate will automatically override any governor’s veto is the height of arrogance.” The legislation, passed by both houses Wednesday, is sitting on Governor Paterson’s desk. He’s promised a veto – there are enough Democratic votes to override in the Assembly, but in the Senate, Republican support would be needed.
