The new version of Happy Ending lands on Page Six. The new club operating out of the original space at 302 Broome St., has been a celebrity hangout since debuting late last year. The Post reports that one of the owners, Teddy Perweiler, was barred from the nightlife hot spot after his ex-girlfriend called the cops, accusing the 25-year-old bar operator of assault.
A law enforcement source told the tabloid that Perweiler was charged with harassment and criminal mischief. The police report also listed a third charge: misdemeanor assault. A judge issued a temporary order of protection. Perweiler has denied all of the allegations. Page Six says of Happy Ending:
…what was supposed to be a tiny restaurant with jazz, inspired by Café Carlyle, had turned into something else under Perweiler and co-owner Oliver Stumm, according to multiple sources, with one calling it “a drug den.” A source said that when Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had a private celebration for their line The Row, Perweiler’s partying antics had the Olsens so uncomfortable that “they left their own party.”
A spokesperson for the club said:
We have a ZERO tolerance policy in terms of drug use as well as trained security guards observing any suspicious activity and monitor[ing] the customers closely… All allegations are untrue . . . It’s scurrilous gossip and hearsay propagated by disgruntled former employees who were let go for unprofessional behavior.
The real Happy Ending closed in 2013.
