NYPD: Suspect Shot After Stabbing Woman at Vladeck Houses

Late last night, the NYPD says, a police officer shot a man who was threatening a woman with a knife. The officer responded to a domestic violence disturbance at 338 Madison St. in the Vladeck Houses at around 12:15 a.m.

37-year-old Brian Quattrocchi and the woman were barricaded behind a door when police arrived and the woman was reportedly screaming. They kicked the door open and used a taser on Quattrocchi , who was holding the woman, Olga Pichardo, at knife point. Even after being hit with the stun gun, he managed to pick up a steak knife and stab Pichardo. That’s when an officer fired his gun, hitting Quattrocchi  in the torso three times.

The woman, 40, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment; she had non-life threatening stab wounds to the chest and shoulder. Quattrocchi was rushed to Bellevue in critical condition. The officer was treated for ringing in his ears.
