Woman Attacked Near Sara D. Roosevelt Park By Suspect Carrying Bags of Marijuana

Police arrested a 24-year-old suspect for allegedly beating a woman unconscious early Saturday morning.

According o the New York Post, it happened at around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Forsyth and Stanton streets. The suspect, Devin Brown, is accused of repeatedly punching an unidentified woman in her late 50s.  She was unconscious when emergency teams arrived at the scene. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition later in the day.

Brown was taken into custody and charged with assault. He also faces drug possession charges. He had been carrying 11 bags of marijuana, police said. Cops had not yet determined why Brown attacked the woman or whether they knew each other.
