Emerging local artists and old school Lower East Siders filled the gallery at The Yard on Friday evening for the opening of the group show, “Our Lower East Side.”
The atmosphere was warm; young first time artists chatted with old pros and the neighborhood community came out to support, and celebrate, all of it. Presented by The Lo-Down and The Yard (a new co-working space that arrived on Delancey a few months ago), the show features artists who live and work in the neighborhood – or have close ties to the area – and focuses on work that was created within the last year. The artwork was selected from over 100 submissions and ranges from painting to photography to mixed media and sculpture.
Make sure to stop by and check it out – the show will be up through November 14th – and the artwork is for sale!
Photographer (and a featured artist at the show) Steve Hernandez posted some great shots of each piece on his site LESNYC.com here.
