Support regional farmers and neighborhood youth employment programs at the same time, while stocking your refrigerator with produce from the Lower East Side Youthmarket which returns to Grand Street for a third summer tomorrow afternoon.
The farmers’ market, a joint project between the city’s GrowNYC program and the Henry Street Settlement, runs from 3 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through Nov. 21. Its wares come from upstate New York and eastern Pennsylvania. Its workers include local teenagers who are learning job skills such as customer service and cash register operation as part of Henry Street’s educational programming.
