The good folks at Republic Worldwide have taken over the gallery space at 131 Chrystie St. and dubbed it The Lodge. They held a preview party last night with a group show, Die Wunderkammer; Objects of Virtue, which pays tribute to modern day “artistic oddities.” Sixteen contemporary artists are featured in the show, with works in various mediums from installation to video to sculpture and ink drawings. Along with tickling our senses with works of “odd delight,” there were live performances and fabulous drinks in the “secret” bar, Fig. 19. Thanks to photographer Jenna Rice for documenting the preview. The show will run through May 1st, 2013. The official opening reception is on Friday, March 22, from 6 – 8pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Sunday, 2pm-10pm.
Wonder where that ivory came from? It’s highly regulated.
it doesn’t look real, it’s probably clay.
The pieces I believe you are referring to are by Christy Rupp and they are made of Wax, ink and wire. They are titled “Ivory”.
This is a great show, I loved it.
