“Fried Dumplings” at 99 Allen Street Closed by Health Department

Must Read

Fried Dumplings, 99 Allen Street.

The Department of Health has shuttered “Fried Dumplings,” one of the more popular “cheap eats” outposts on the Lower East Side.  An inspection was conducted last Thursday in which the little restaurant at 99 Allen Street (Delancey) racked up 89 violation points.

Among the infractions: evidence of mice, “facility not vermin proof” and improper storage of foods that must be kept above or below specific temperatures.  Fried Dumplings was inspected in July of last year and received 11 violation points but another inspection this past December resulted in 35 violation points.  The metal gate is down at the storefront today.

By the way, you may have noticed that Wing Shoon at 165 East Broadway has been closed the last couple of days.  Some readers have asked whether the Health Department paid a visit to this establishment, as well.  According to the Department of Health web site (which often is not very current) the restaurant was last inspected in October of 2012, receiving a score of 37.
