Coming Soon at Rivington and Allen: Sauce

Must Read

The dining room features tile floors, large windows along Rivington and chandeliers fashioned from retired cutlery.

Most of the plywood is down and the lace curtains are up at Sauce, the new Italian eatery set to open by the end of the month at the corner of Rivington and Allen streets.

For his first foray south of Houston Street, Frank Prizinzano of Frank and Lil’ Frankie’s has converted the former Kampuchea space into an old-school red sauce look. We wandered by with our camera this afternoon and caught construction workers putting finishing touches on ceilings and bathrooms. There’s still some work to be done on the Rivington Street side, but the entrance on Allen Street is complete, and big windows offer a look inside.

The kitchen is stocked with equipment and dishes; the cold cuts are in the case.
The kitchen features new windows that face Allen Street.
The Allen Street awning is up, and features a smorgasbord of Sauce's offerings, including takeout and catering, grass-fed beef and "grandma's gravies and ragus."

  1. This is a place for a small meal. I DON’T BELIEVE IN RESTAURANTS THAT HAVE A STEAK FOR 2 FOR $100 AND WINES ON THE LIST FOR $500 AND UP THAT ACCEPTS CASH ONLY.
Food can be very good but price of wine is a rip off. Wines that cost $15 retail they price for $60 up. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF if you drink wine, if you don’t it is a great deal.
BE AWARE OF SPECIAL!!! Never go for the steak for two or such. IT IS A BIG TRAP!!!
