Police Search For Man Who Tried To Attack Girl on Hester Street

Police are searching for a man they say tried to attack a 12-year-old girl on Hester Street (the cross street was not specified) early Monday evening. They released surveillance video showing the alleged suspect. At around 6pm, the girl heard banging on the door of her apartment building. After entering the building, police say, the suspect followed the girl up to the third floor stairwell and tried to assault her. The man ran away (for reasons the cops have not indicated). The girl was not hurt.

The suspect is described as white man age 25-30, 5’9″ tall, 175 lbs, and was last seen wearing a blue jacket, brown pants and a gray hat.
