Look for a high of 80, and possible rain showers begining at about 1pm. Don’t forget to check out The Lo-Down List, our weekly events guide. 221 East Broadway. Photo by Chris Gage.
Thanks to Lo-Down reader Chris Gage for this photo and the following tip, “the deli on the corner of Clinton Street. and East Broadway has moved around the corner, to Clinton (between East Broadway and Henry Street). When I asked the man behind the counter, he said “Rent was too high.” It was speculated that a restaurant was going in the old space.”
We don’t know about any restaurant going in here, but there are some other interesting happenings to report about 221 East Broadway. Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer
This afternoon, we’ll be headed over to 1 Centre Street where Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh will turn up the pressure on the Department of Education. Last week, there was a flurry of press statements from Stringer and Kavanagh, as well as Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Senator Daniel Squadron and Councilmembers Margaret Chin and Rosie Mendez related to the never-ending Girls Prep controversy.
