Lower East Side Film Festival Kicks Off Free Summer Screenings in Tompkins Square Park

Our friends at the Lower East Side Film Festival are kicking off their summer Movies in the Park series with a screening of MISTRESS AMERICA at 8:30pm on Thursday, August 14, in Tompkins Square Park (Bandshell).

The screening celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the film’s release. They write: “Directed by Noah Baumbach and co-written by Greta Gerwig, this sharply funny coming-of-age film follows a college freshman (Lola Kirke) and her chaotic future stepsister (Greta Gerwig) through a whirlwind of ambition and misadventure across New York City.”

The event is co-hosted with Assembly Member Harvey Epstein and presented by Searchlight Pictures. Additional goodies include:

Free shaved ice from Rosa Reta
Tasty bites from Wonder
(psst – code FIRSTROUND gives $15 off of Wonder meals!)
Iced cold Topo Chico
Chill zones from Sofaclub + Flamer

Two additional screenings on the calendar are SUMMER OF SOUL, the Academy Award-winning documentary directed by Questlove, on August 27th at 8:30pm, with live music ahead of the screening, and BIRDMAN on Sept. 17th at 7:30pm, with live jazz and an Emma Stone Look-Alike Contest.
