Here are some upcoming local events that are on our radar:
- Celebrate Purim at the Museum at Eldridge on Monday, March 25th at 6pm, with Paul Shapiro’s Purim Shpil! Take a trip back in time and sing, dance, and laugh along with a fun concert in the museum’s main sanctuary, featuring Paul Shapiro (sax and vocals), Dan Rosengard (piano), and Larry Eagle (drums)!
- Catch Tracy McClendon’s debut comedy hour, “Sexy Lil Goober,” (photo above) at Caveat on Tuesday, March 26th at 9:30pm. “Equal parts love letter and ransom note to New York City, she covers what it takes to be a “real” New Yorker…from growing up in a haunted house in Far Rockaway to getting dragged by a city bus to falling in an open subway grate…”
- Join Emily Johnson and Karyn Recollet for “Kinstillatory Mappings in Light and Dark Matter,”on Thursday, March 28 at 6pm in the Abrons Garden, with a ceremonial fire centering Indigenous protocol and knowledge. Guest artists and organizers share stories and performances in honor and protection of the land, water, and air of Lenapehoking, the homelands of the Lenapeyok, where Abrons Arts Center is located.
- Listen to writers of Defector, an employee-owned sports and culture website, offer selected readings on sports, politics, and culture at Yu and Me Books, (now that the store is back in their home on Mulberry Street) as part of their Defector Reading Series.
