
Abrons Arts Center’s annual Family Arts Day happily returns to it’s in-person event, featuring fun for the whole family, this fall, on Saturday, September 17th, from 1pm – 3pm. The event is free and takes place at the Abrons Amphitheater at 466 Grand Street. The schedule is below. Learn more here.
1:00 – 2:30 Visual Arts with Angela Tornello
Drop-in and create a collage! Together, we will use paint to make a large-scale artwork inspired by our community, our friends, and everything that engages us.
1:00 – 2:30 Introduction to Circus 101 with Miss Ekat
Ever wanted to join the circus? Then ‘step right up’ and visit circus coach & performer Miss Ekat for an introduction to Circus 101. Fun for all ages and abilities, this is a ‘peek behind the curtain’ for juggling, balancing, spinning plates, and other exciting skills.

Voices of Henry Street is an intergenerational choir directed by Abrons Arts Center teaching artist Michael Inge.
1:20 – 1:50 Flamenco Performance & Salsa On 2 with Yvonne Guiterrez
Family Arts Day is bringing some salsa and flamenco to the community this year. Enjoy the music, sing, clap your hands and dance with us. Join us! Come and be part of an interactive flamenco performance in the amphitheater by our young people and a salsa mini-lesson for all ages! You can also participate by adding some jaleos (like olé, eso, arsa, toma, agua, azucar).

Join this workshop with circus coach & performer Miss Ekat for an introductory demo of Circus skills and techniques.
2:05 – 2:20 Hip Hop with Shaheeda Smith
Learn some hip hop fundamentals/moves through a variety of street dance.
2:20 – 2:35 Breakdance with Zack Cruz
Learn the fundamentals of breakdancing–top rock, footwork, freezes, and power moves. Learn the hottest old-school moves with a new-age urban twist.
