Asian Comedy Fest Comes to Caveat on May 7

Now in its third year, the Asian Comedy Fest touts itself as the largest national AAPI comedy festival around. It returns this time around with six comedy shows over two nights, showcasing stand-up comedy at Stand Up NY on May 6th and comedy in various forms, such as sketch comedy, musical comedy and a live podcast performance at Caveat on May 7th

Headliners include: Dylan Adler (Hulu), Jes Tom (Netflix), Karen Chee (Late Night with Seth Meyers) and more. The fest is also partnering with shortform video app Rizzle on a video contest for AAPI creators worldwide. To enter, AAPI creators submitted a one-minute proof-of-concept video for a talk show via the app. The top three winners will be greenlit for a 10-episode series on Rizzle and receive a cash prize of up to $1,000.

They write:

“ACF is the largest national comedy festival dedicated to elevating diverse voices within the AAPI community, and brings much-needed attention to a scene bursting at the seams with new and exciting talent. The inaugural ACF in 2020 featured a wide array of comedic acts including superstar and AAPI icon Ronny Chieng. In 2021, after pivoting to a hybrid format due to the pandemic, ACF featured appearances from talent such as Bowen Yang, Jes Tom and Michael Cruz Kayne, and also raised over $8,000 for the non-profit Apex for Youth.”
