This Week’s 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Deadline Explained (Sponsored)

The July 29th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) deadline applied to two groups specifically: If you were in Lower Manhattan south of Houston Street or in the Brooklyn exposure zone (as shown in the map below) between 9/11/01 and 7/31/02 you may still be eligible for 9/11 benefits.  Deadlines for filing a claim are specific to an individual based upon the date when an illness is determined to be 9/11 related.

The attorneys at Pitta & Baione LLP are available for a free consultation to review your individual circumstances and advise about your eligibility and applicable filing deadlines.

Here is what you should ask yourself:
1. Am I a member of the World Trade Center Health Program, and if so, did I sign up before 2019?
2. Did my loved one live in the exposure zone and pass away prior to 2019?

If the answer to either question is yes, then the deadline may apply to you or your loved one’s estate because the deadline marks the end of a look-back period for all those who were certified by the WTC Health Program on or before July 29, 2019 and those who passed away due to a 9/11 illness on or before July 29, 2019.

July 29 was a good reminder to all those who were in the exposure zone – but there is still time to get informed to protect your rights.
