Rockwood Music Hall has announced it will bring live concerts back to the Lower East Side beginning Thursday, June 3, 2021. The announcement comes with a stipulation that audiences, artists and staff will be required to be 100% COVID-19 vaccinated. Proof of vaccination will be required at check-in, via either the New York State Excelsior Pass or a CDC-issued vaccination card. But the team promises, once you’re in, the shows will be mask-free, without social distancing.
Owner Ken Rockwood opened the venue in 2005 as a small bar with a stage featuring multiple indie musician in one night. Today, the venue features three stages and a record label of the same name.
After being shuttered for over a year, due to the pandemic, some of the larger concert venues in the neighborhood are still closed. Mercury Lounge looks to be returning to live music in July, but Bowery Ballroom is holding off until September, 2021.
