If you’re a fan of 88 Lan Zhou, as we are, you have at least a small reprieve.
The Fujianese-style hand-pulled noodle and dumpling spot previously announced it would be closing for good at 40 Bowery. But people have apparently been flocking to the restaurant to stock up those bags of frozen dumplings (50 for $12), leading to an uptick in business. This week, the owners posted some encouraging words on Instagram: “We have some good news to share! With the support and love shown by all of you, we’ve decided to extend our closing date. We’ve consulted with our landlord, and will notify you of any updates.”
Originally, the restaurant had planned to close for good on August 15. Lan Zhou has had its ups and downs over the years. The owners were forced from another space, a tiny spot on East Broadway, in 2017 but they eventually resurfaced on the Bowery.
