Our friends at the Feed Me a Story project are kicking off a new audio tour of Essex Market (88 Essex St.) with a fun event this Saturday, from 11am – 1pm, on the mezzanine at the market.
Co-creator Theresa Loong tells us, “This audio tour (we hope this is the first in a series) covers selected vendors in the market on the main floor. It encourages people to experience flavors, sights and sounds within the market, and provides history of the neighborhood and a brief history of the old market.”
The tour is produced by Sarah Kramer, for “Feed Me a Story,” an ongoing collaboration created by artists Theresa Loong and Laura Nova. The team notes, “Feed Me a Story is inspired by two of the oldest interactive experiences – eating and talking. It is presented in collaboration with selected Essex Market vendors and visitors.”
During the Saturday event, people can decorate tote bags (and keep the tote!) and contribute to a community art project on the Essex Kitchen Wall.
