Rooftop Films offers two fun film events this weekend. On Friday, Aug. 16, Rashaad Ernesto Green’s film, Premature, screens at the New Design High School (350 Grand St.) at 8:00pm. The story is set in Harlem and is about an unexpected summer romance that forces the protagonist, a young aspiring-poet (Ayanna) to make hard decisions
.
Co-writer and breakout-lead Zora Howard brings complexity to Ayanna, a young woman balancing vulnerability and self-sufficiency. The result is an outspoken portrait of a young woman in transition, anchored by the relationships that shape us, the friendships that bolster and push us, and the love that has the power to change everything.
On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Sundance darling, Brittany Runs a Marathon, screens at Solar One  (24-20 FDR Drive) with the option to join New York Road Runner coaches for a pre-screening fun run along the East River Greenway. The film is about a “hard-partying New Yorker finds real friends—and a real life—by taking control of her future, one New York City block at a time.”
