Rabbit House, the little Japanese-style tapas/sake spot across from Sara D. Roosevelt Park, is opening a second location at 41 Essex St.
The restaurant will make its official debut in August, but in the meantime, the new Rabbit House will be operating as a “pop up” with special menu items. Owner/Chef Yoshiko Sakuma explains in her monthly newsletter, “the new restaurant will be the same exact Japanese dining concept as our first but bigger and with a full bar!”
Sakuma has worked at some of the best restaurants in town, including Bouley, Aureole and Danube. The New Yorker praised the original Rabbit House, located at 76 Forysth St., in January of 2017, praising the “exquisite wisp of a sake bar” for its house sake and sake flights.
