The famed French street artist, JR, is back on the Lower East Side. On Thursday evening, he’ll debut his new full-scale exhibition at Galerie Perrotin, 130 Orchard St.

The show, which includes large-scale installations, is called Horizontal. There’s also going to be an intervention by JR on the facade of 130 Orchard St., the historic former home of Beckenstein Fabrics. The exhibition will be open until Aug. 17. Thursday’s opening celebration begins at 5 p.m.

JR is well-known for his enormous photographic portraits displayed (some times legally, sometimes not) in public spaces around the world. Last year, he put up an image of a child, rising about 70 feet, near the U.S. Mexican border.  This year he received an Oscar nomination for directing the documentary Faces Places with the esteemed filmmaker, Agnes Varda. In 2015, he took over an abandoned hospital on Ellis Island, showcasing photos of undocumented U.S. immigrants. A film based on that installation debuted at 130 Orchard St. (it was staged inside Daniel’s Leather, the longtime LES store that once occupied a retail space in the building).

This week, JR is making his presence known on Orchard St. Have a look:
