The Clemente Open Studio Event is Happening on May 17th & 18th, 2018!

The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center hosts its annual Building-Wide Visual & Performing Arts Open Studios Event on Thursday, May 17th, from 6-9pm and Friday, May 18th, from 6-9pm and will feature performance, dance and musical events. All events are FREE and open to the public.

Come explore this culturally diverse community which houses 11 visual and performing arts organizations and over 46 visual artists’ studios in the beautiful, former PS 160 designed by Charles B. J. Snyder in the Dutch neo-gothic style in 1897.

In conjunction with the open studios, 12 installations will be placed in public spaces throughout the building on view from May 14th through May 25th.

In addition, there will be exhibitions featuring guest artists in the Abrazo Gallery, located on the 2nd floor, and in the LES Gallery, located on the 1st floor (April 18 – May 18).

Performances and screening of animation and video, curated by Tricia McLaughlin and Robert Grant, will be held in the Flamboyan theater on May 18th from 6 – 9pm.
